The purpose of this position is to manage and control the maintenance function in the plant and be responsible for all associated technical issues. The Maintenance Supervisor will provide supervision of the maintenance area including all labor issues, equipment breakdown repair, preventative maintenance and associated systems, management and control of all maintenance costs, management of parts, stockroom organization and inventory control, implementation and maintenance of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The objective is to act as a support function to production to minimize line downtime, assist with process and operation, and improve operational efficiency.
Supervise maintenance function and ensuring that maintenance assignments are carried out in an efficient and safe manner, this includes troubleshooting plant equipment and supervising the maintenance staff directly.
Set up, maintain PM systems, inspection routines, inventory control, job scheduling, staff training and identification of plant improvement plans including efficiency and yield.
Champion World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology and safety objectives, striving for zero accidents, and ensure that safety culture exists within the maintenance department.
Control maintenance expenditures in a cost-effective way according to the site budget for site repairs, resources, direct labor, overtime and contract labor.
Organize and control spare parts inventory.
Organize and plan maintenance work assignments appropriately and at the appropriate time.
Comply with all company and plant rules.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering field; mechanical or chemical engineering degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively to all levels.
Strong work ethic and team work essentials.
Ability to motivate and drive improvements within a Union environment.
